Labyrinth Ritekeepers are enemies in the labyrinth in Bloodborne. Whether the ruins are tombs or a mere resting place for something dark and foul, or both, one thing is true: Someone or something lies asleep here. The Protectors also worship what lies beneath, and among the Protectors are a special class of ritual masters that carry out horrific and detestable ritual rites.
Strategy
- Labyrinth Ritekeepers are physically weak and immobile. However, they defend themselves with highly damaging fireballs that can travel huge distances (some of them use arcane balls instead)
- They are even more deadly at point blank range than a distance. They may conjure fireballs inside the player which deals HUGE dmg (possibly counterdmg), likely resulting in instant death unless the Hunter has stacked considerable fire resistances with runes and specialized attire, such as the Charred Hunter's Set.
- A taller variant can sometimes be seen in Pthumeru Ihyll Root Chalice, this walking variant leads a patrol of undead and can greatly buff their damage.
- To deal with these threats, be proactive in dashing around the ritekeeper and try to attack them from the sides. If the Hunter can safely initiate a combo, that is likely all it will take to bring a ritekeeper down.
- Alternatively you can surprise them and use a weapon with good speed and range to avoid the spawning fireballs. Ideal are the R2 attacks of (untransformed) Church Pick and Holy Moonlight Sword. using L2 on Hunter Axe from their sides is also very effective.
- When paired with other enemies, it is safest to prioritize bringing the ritekeeper down first. A stray fireball can easily kill the Hunter if they are occupied fighting other monsters.
- Before casting a fireball she will move the hand in her right hand (yes, she is holding a hand). If she moves the skull in her left hand she will perform a spraying attack or a buff.

Notes & Trivia
- Usually they are same size as the Oedon Chapel Dweller, but in high difficulty root dungeons there are tall variants with red glowing eyes. They buff nearby mobs, use melee attacks and are in all ways more dangerous than regular variant.

I love the way you're introduced to these lads. Not in an open space where you fight one alone, allowing you to learn their tricks...
But two that camp right at the top of a ladder and say "welcome to the chalice dungeons" the second you climb up

Ah yes. An enemy that just straight one shots you no matter what in the defiled chalice. Phenomenal game design

"You can find such a ennemy..."
Someone forgot their spellcheck - and I'm not talking arcane here!

I want to pet one. They look so compact, I find them oddly cute. Like a turtle.

These things have to be bugged, they insta kill you with 49 vitality and 2 health runes and spam the fireballs non stop. It feels like you're fighting against a glitch. F**k these things.

I sure do love facing 4 of these in the first room of my cursed root chalice

How the hell do the 500 foot long legs fit under that tiny excuse for a cloak, if you can even call it that

First time I saw one of these things standing up I nearly***** my pants

Hey it's a frail old lady mob, I'll bet she's as easy as the eye scoop ladies, I'll just walk over and oops she hit me with a tiny fireball that instantly turned my insides into outsides

Using the loch shield against these enemies may help you close the gap between them and/or prevent you from getting one-shotted

I believe the damage they do at point blank could be a bug, as it seems their fireballs can hit the player multiple times (most fire based attacks in Bloodborne seem to do damage cumulatively but very quickly rather than all at once) before dissipating as projectiles. It seems their fireballs do the same at point blank, just on steroids...
2 million echoes 1.4 million echoes 4 million echoes... These *****es, along with the mad ones, have cost me ridiculous counts... hope whoever scaled them for dungeons, slips on the ice this winter, and breaks their goddamn neck... >.<

The severed hand that they use to cast their fireballs/arcane attacks has an engagement ring on it, which is peculiar considering the lore regarding wedlock and the Great Ones. Neat detail.

By far the most overpowered yet stupid looking enemies in the game. They don't provide a challenge FromSoft, they're just a damn headache

I call these guys "ol' razzle dazzles" on account of their stunning displays of Roaring 20's legwork.
And you can't convince me the Oedon Chapel Dweller doesn't share their fabulously long steppers.

in high level chalice dungeons (d5), they are mostly doublepacked, casting pretty fast and hittig absurdly hard (~1shot).

All of these I've seen move slightly if you move out of view/ I came across one at the end of one of those swinging traps so I baited it and it slowly moved forward every time I went out of it's view until it was hit by the trap. I've also came across one that decided to stand up and very slowly move to the side to try to find me after breaking it's line of sight, it had an animation where it lent to the side as if looking around/ it seemed a bit wrong as if it didn't know whether it had legs or not/ it kept standing then sitting

Okay so I'm getting a weird glitch with these guys that I found by accident. If you kill them with a visceral attack, then leave the boundaries of the area(X on resonant bell) a bloodsucker will spawn in their place. This is chalice dungeons that I only know of.
They tried to put me on the cover of Vogue... But my legs were *too long!*
