Church Giants are an enemy in Bloodborne.
Church Giants (also known as Chapel Giants) in Bloodborne are large enemies that tower above the Hunter. The church controls the ministration of healing blood, aided by this large servant. Terrifying Giants, its expression is vacant and lacking intelligence, its skin pallid, its huge form oddly thin. It screams as it swings its silver weapon. A bell hangs from its neck, possibly warning nearby citizens of Yharnam to stay indoors or to keep track of this giant that does not seem capable of speech. Possible experiments of the church.
Church Giant Information
These enemies come in several variations- Wielding an axe
- Wielding a ball and chain
- Unarmed with flaming fists
- Unarmed(Forbidden Woods)
Strategy
- Stand close to the back of these enemies and dodge when they're about to swing.
- When they use their heavy slam attacks, one of their bones will protrude from their arm/leg (varies with their weapon type). The bone has a small hit-box, but hitting it before the giant can stand up will provide an opening for a Visceral Attack.
- Giants are not only slow but also very clumsy. If you stick to their fronts, some attacks will miss as the giant is too tall.(Sides or back is still better)

Notes & Trivia
- If you have beat Vicar Amelia and interact with the skull of Lawrence, causing the moon cycle to progress, they will rest on one spot asleep rather than patrol.
- Though slow, they have lots of life. Dont be greedy w combos and save enough for a dodge. Dodge to the side or forward is better than backwards.

After you kill Vicar Amelia, they appear to kneel, heads bowed. I have two theories: First one, which I prefer, is that they are mourning the death of their vicar. Perhaps I'm being naive, or sentimental. You can't hear any sobbing coming from them, so this is probably not true. The other option is that they're sleeping. Maybe because of their big bodies, they need more rest than the average person. Of course, this doesn't explain why they sit at 20 insight.

The weakness entry is wrong, the giants are not weak to fire or bolt. They actually have higher fire and blot resistance than the executioners, try throwing molotov at one and you'll see. They have less defence against arcane but are not exactly weak to that either.

When these guys do a heavy sttack( i.e. an attack where the swing back an roar) it reveals a piece of metal. Hitting this with a charge R2 results in stunning them for a visceral.

In the Forbidden Woods there's a version of these in a cave that doesn't carry a weapon nor wears a shawl. They're a lot faster with their attacks and have pretty good range. Worse, they're all trundling through ankle-high poisoned water.

Before you defeat Vicar Amelia, it is noon. After you defeat her, it is night. When these monsters are sitting down, they are sleeping since it's night. Absolutely nothing to do with insight.

Whose the imbecile who doesn't understand CHURCH GIANT is a far more appropriate name?

I'm guessing they're either experiments or Pthumerians, since they resemble Queen Yharnam, both in height and skin color. (Note that at Mergo's Loft, the Queen towers the player just like these Giants do, so does the Pthumerian Descendant)

I could swear im dodging them yet i still take damage I even set bloodborne to offline mode to remove any possible lag/visual delay
The church giant in the Lecture building’s second floor has dropped a blood stone chunk for me, but I’m guessing it’s really really rare
