Maneater Boar is an enemy in Bloodborne. It may also be encountered as a boss in Chalice Dungeons.

Maneater Boar Information

There are two variants of this enemy, the second of which has dozens of eyes growing out of its head and appears only in the Nightmare of Mensis. The only difference between them is their belch attack: Normal Maneater Boars can inflict the slow poison status effect, and the ones with eyes will inflict frenzy.

Strategy

• Their charge attacks are easily the most deadly and require specific timing to dodge. Successful dodge may expose its back if you are near.
• You will never stun them with light strikes but they can be stunned by most R2 attacks.
• Heavy Weapons stun them well. Stay near them to discourage charge, hit their sides or back.
• A good approach is to attack from the side and spot a backstab/visceral opportunity.
• One can infinitely loop a visceral attack chain if you have a fast enough weapon, the boar will not recover fast enough to avoid a follow up strong attack. This method makes the boar extremely easy to beat regardless of it's health or damage, as it is unable to move so long as your timing is relatively quick.

Notes & Trivia

• If you have visited Oedon Chapel, you can tell the Young Yharnam Girl to go there for a safe place. On her way, she will encounter a maneater boar and will be killed by it. If you kill the boar afterwards, you will acquire the Red Messenger Ribbon.
• Strangely, it can be parried causing it to go down and be able to do a visceral.
