Merciless Watcher is an enemy in Bloodborne found in Chalice Dungeons. It may also be encountered as a boss in Chalice Dungeons
Strategy
- Watchers are very weak to Arcane dmg (the boss variant is not)
- The Watcher with a pistol cannot hit you if you stand right in front of him.
Merciless Watcher Information
This enemy has five variations.
Watcher Chieftain: Better range than the Cleaver version and more likely to combo wildly.
Cleaver + Mask: More predictable than the chieftain but much harder to stun while he is attacking. He also has a combo where he pokes you with his cleaver but it does very little damage and won't stunlock you for long. It seems he takes normal damage from arcane.
Pistol + Lantern: His pistol functions like a shotgun, it covers a wide arc but has limited range. The easiest way to beat him is simply slice and dice him from up close as he will always miss if you stand in front of him. When in front of him he will counterattack by swinging his lantern but it does very little damage that can be easily healed with rally potential.
Red Hot Poker: Probably the least dangerous one, his attacks are very predictable and do little damage.
Naked With Spiked Club: Very different from the other watchers and very dangerous. He moves primarily by rolling and he can perform a body slam from roll that is highly damaging. A buffed roller can easily one-shot players on depth 5 labyrinths (tested with curse)

Notes & Trivia
- Merciless Watcher's with a gun cannot shoot a Hunter who is using the Sit Gesture. Good for a laugh.
- Merciless Watchers are reminiscent of Smough, the giant man-eater from Dark Souls.
- They can heal sporadically.

Don't visceral a Merciless Watcher in Bloodborne Chalice Dungeons, worst mistake of my life.

The rolling ones are the most annoying enemies in the game by far

Hmm, naked? Rolls around constantly? Only weapon is a giant hammer? POISE? Could these guys be reincarnations of our dark souls characters?

I saw that the variant of the mallet and naked can heal itself.

They’re obviously meant to parody the tryhard naked Souls players.

The mace watchers are definitely parodies of tryhard Souls players.

One of these guarding a lever dropped a cursed bolt gem in a depth 3 that was +20% bolt, 2.4 stamina increase. One of the better gems I've gotten from them.

My method for naked boys: stick to one side of their peripheral, either out of their sight range (about 50 feet) or behind an obstruction, like a pillar or one of those iron cages in the lower floors of the dungeon. Then, fire a bullet (preferably not a scattershot) toward the OTHER side of their peripheral, which will likely cause them to turn to wherever the bullet terminates. This should get them to face away from you, giving a small opportunity to cross to the back of the room, minding to keep your distance, before they turn to face forward again after roughly 6 or 7 seconds. Now you can safely approach them from the back and give them a backstab and visceral, but remember that this might not kill them and you should give them one last R1 just for good measure.
If there are other enemies in the room, try to draw them away with pebbles or the Blacksky Eye before it notices you, obviously. And if it DOES notice you... just run, honestly. Get yourself out of the room before they squish your skull between their ass cheeks, then come back and try again. If all else fails, you can always use a Blue Elixir, but I find them to be somewhat faulty at times, so be careful.
And if you find them at the top or bottom of a staircase? Good effin' luck.
