Chapel Giant is an enemy in Bloodborne.

Chapel Giants are towering enemies in Bloodborne. The Healing Church controls treatment of the disease, but it hunts with this large servant. Half terrifying legend, its expression is vacant, its skin pallid, its huge form oddly thin. It screams as it swings its silver weapon. A bell hangs from its neck, and when the citizens of Yharnam hear its ring, they close their doors and stay within.

Strategy

  • Stand close to the back of these enemies and dodge when they're about to swing.
  • When they use their heavy slam attacks, one of their bones will protrude from their arm/leg (varies with their weapon type). The bone has a small hit-box, but hitting it before the giant can stand up will provide an opening for a Visceral Attack.
  • Charged attacks are very effective
  • Can be riposted for a visceral, hitting him on his head (very difficult).

Notes & Trivia

  • When Vicar Amelia is defeated, the giants simply go to sleep. Perhaps all that motivated them was protecting this one kind person.
  • The Chapel Giant loosely resembles Father Mozgus from Berserk.
  • Beneath their black hats they have perfectly silver hair.

The Church Giant at the top of the ladder in Lecture Building 2F drops Twin Blood Stone Shards reliably (nearly every time), and with high discovery I've had him drop Blood Stone Chunks rarely as well.

It seems to me like they are wearing a bigger version of the executioner garb, I guess that makes sense considering what their primary weapon is. Maybe not all executioners (aside from martyr Logarius and Alfred) died on the batlle against the vilebloods.

Are we gonna just overlook the fact that it swings that axe so hard they break their own leg? The bone explodes out of it's socket and blood spews everywhere and yet they stand and shove the bone back in place
