Fist of Gratia is a Firearm in Bloodborne. It was added to the game with The Old Hunters DLC.
Fist of Gratia Description
"A chunk of iron fitted with finger holes
The hulking hunter woman Simple Gratia, ever hopeless when handling hunter firearms, preferred to knock the lights out of beasts with this hunk of iron, which incidentally caused heavy stagger.
Gratia was a fearsome hunter, and to onlookers, her unrelenting pummelling appeared oddly heroic. No wonder this weapon later assumed her name."
Fist of Gratia Information
- This is a left hand weapon and has no transformation.
- Requires 16 Blood Stone Shards, 16 Twin Blood Shards, 16 Chunks and 1 Blood Rock
and ?? Blood Echoes to fully upgrade. - The L2 attack is a gut punch, with significant hit stun.
- Does not have charge attack, unlike unarmed fists.
- Effective against most non-giant enemies.
- Doesn't use Blood Gem imprints.
- Oddly enough, it requires a certain amount of Bloodtinge to wield, even though it makes no use of Blood damage. Even so, its prerequisite level for Bloodtinge is so low that any starting class can meet the requirement.
Location
Normal
- In The Hunter's Nightmare, on the body of Gratia inside the last cell on the right, after the Ludwig, the Holy Blade fight.
Player Notes
- Fast animation on its attack and high stagger make this great as an opener for both slow and fast weapons, more so on durable large targets a lighter weapon may not stun.
- Can be used to finish a light weapon combo, stunning the target to allow for an easy dodge.
- Unlike unarmed fist, the Fist of Gratia does not have charge attack, rendering it unable to backstab enemies.
- Doesn't chain attacks well.
- Consumes a large amount of stamina per punch.
- Doesn't use quicksilver bullets, great as a back up when low on ammo for strength-bloodtinge builds that use the cannon or gattling gun.
- Capable of interrupting high-poise enemies. Can interrupt Maria’s “uninterruptible” overhand swing as well as some Orphan of kos’ attacks.

Ok at long last I’ve figured out that these are not useless, actually amazing. Great against orphan, can interrupt enemy combos so well and create openings for attack, dodge or heal. Pairs well with untricked whirligig

to bad we can't dual wield this, would be great to give orphan the old one two

To be honest, I'm a little bummed this doesn't get an S scaling for strength.

in pvp, it can combo with certain main weapon attacks, specifically with:
boom hammer r2 into l2
holy moonlight r2 into l2
stake driver r2 into l2
and the only one that isn't an r2; rifle spear backstep r1 into l2

Hi, I have a high STR build with high vitality, and some skill, this is my first ever run. Here my stats at BL100: 48/12/49/25/7/9. For the left hand weapon, fist of gratia is the only one valuable with my build, but I dont know when to use it. I'm at the end of NG.
Do you have some advices?
I have Kirkhammer or Whirligig saw in my right hand.
Should I use it against bosses or undead giants for example? Is the stagger sufficient? Because I have very few stamina and the fist of gratia drains a lot. For the moment, I never use it, except for fun.

Homeless yharnam man beats fursuiter to death using an iron

All the stagger you'd get from a gun, but free AND a whole lot more disrespectful
Absolutely amazing against Micolash if he keeps spamming a call from beyond.

This thing basically makes L2 a stagger button. Useful to use right before you need to dodge away, or in place of dodging away so that you can stay in close and keep attacking. Some enemies can be stunlocked to death with L2-R1-L2-R1-L2-R1 etc, if you are using a fast weapon and have enough stamina. Conversely, if you are using a slower/ranged weapon this thing is good for enemies who get too close. To the people who say "Isn't a firearm better though?" the answer is probably, yeah. But if you're like me and really don't care about parrying, this is the next best thing you could use in your off hand.

How to use the fist of Gratia 1) Stand perfectly Still 2) walk slowly to your hated enemy 3) raise your fist as i am doing right now and prepare to unleash your BURNING FURY UPON YOUR FOE'S UNEXPECTING FACE!! 4) I. CAST. FIST!!!

If only it had a blood gem slot, tf Miyazaki!?! Cannons deserve them aswell honestly.

Food for thought, what if you paired this with the stake driver. If you hit a humanoid with this it will stun/stagger them easily. You can then follow up with the charged R2 piston shot.

Why use skill and finesse when you can just punch your way through?

So I found an incredible use for this weopon. It is the perfect side arm when you have the transformed beastcutter. Sometimes with the beastcutter, enemies can sneak in because you swing slow. You just swing with the fist because its alot faster. But the thing that makes it good is that it staggers.... so you can either back off, or if you have the stamina, continue comboing your staggers with the transformed beastcutter.
It really fills a void in one of the beastcutters weaknesses. Stagger plus stagger is good in my mind.

Dont you for a second believe a word that other people say about this weapon, its the best offhand weapon in the entire game for one reason: It looks dope as *****

This is the worst and most useless weapon in the game, even professional veterans say it's one of the worst and least usefull weapons in the game.

Dodge, roll and dash and you will have a moveset similar to the ceastus from DS
Or is it simply a novelty? I'm failing to see which right hand weapon would make it useful in any way. It doesn't consume any less endurance than right hand weapons...does it have any advantage over using your right hand weapon?
Only thing I can imagine is if you have a pure elemental or arcane weapon in right hand and want to use physical dmg, but I don't see in which scenario it would be any good if your character is mainly arcane...

You do not need to have the key to obtain it.The door isn't locked

I think this will end up makeing us fight like a brick troll, you know just punching forward witha lump of iron.
- Anonymous
I'm guessing this will let us parry without using up bullets, to conserve them for arcane builds or the bowblade

Im playing through with an Unarmed character and this is the FIST of Gratia so Im gonna let it slide and use this. At the end of the day its a brick...

Had a lot of fun this weapon combo back in Cathedral Ward (NG+) Just prime the Stake Driver and open up the Fist and punch away. The first makes a good combo ender too

Fist of Gratia in off hand combined with Kos Parasite without Milkweed equipped gives you a pretty good way to fist fight. Go in with right handed fisting comboes and then finish with a Fist of Gratia punch to stun for a safe dodge away. You can also start with a Fist of Gratia hit to knock the enemy out of their attack and get some hits in. It feels like bloodborne boxing. I tried this against some werewolves and felt it was pretty enjoyable. Obviously hard to deal with multiple enemies but the Fist does a good job of hitting multiple enemies to stun and free you up. I definitely expect people to try and PvP with this and an Arcane build to focus on fast combos and some hunter tools thrown in.

The DS2 Co-op phantom Steelheart Ellie bears quite the resemblance to Gratia (from what I can see), and uses Cestus. This is likely a reference to her.

This weapon is particularly good against the giant enemies you fight in the DLC, the ones that after a while start to channel a buff that makes their attacks gain a magic AOE splash damage. You pummel then two-three times and they stop casting. So far, though, I'd rather have a firearm in my secondary slot.

Speculative, all patch notes you've read thus far were falsified.

Anyone considering exclusively fisting their way through the whole game? Oooh, sounds kinda kinky.

If I'm using the Fist of Gratia and I'm up against a hunter, can the hunter parry me off a L2?
This + Stake Driver = Elder Chad
