Quicksilver Bullet is a form of Ammunition in Bloodborne.
Quicksilver Bullet Usage
- This is the main form of ammo found in Bloodborne.
- It's used to load Firearms.
- Keep in mind it's also used for Hunter Tools.
- Certain Trick Weapons use QS Bullets for special attacks.
- The Rifle Spear's transformed mode utilizes a "shotgun" that uses one QS Bullet per round fired.
- The Reiterpallasch's transformed mode has a built-in gun that also uses one QS Bullet per round fired.
- The Kos Parasite's transformed mode, while you have the Milkweed Rune equipped, has a special arcane-based L2 attack; it uses two QS Bullets per use.
- The Holy Moonlight Sword's transformed mode has several attacks that uses QS Bullets.

- 160 Blood Echoes [Base Price]
- 240 Blood Echoes [After entering the Cathedral Ward]
- 320 Blood Echoes [After defeating Vicar Amelia]
- 400 Blood Echoes [After defeating Rom, The Vacuous Spider]
Locations
- At the beginning of the game, it's sold by the Messengers.
- Common drop from several different enemies, most noticeably ones who wield firearms.
Notes
- The Hunter can hold up to twenty QS Bullets in his/her inventory.
- Keep in mind this limit can be increased by memorizing Formless Oedon runes.
- Upon returning to the Hunter's Dream, the player's inventory will automatically be replenished, assuming they have any QS Bullets left in their storage.
- You can store up to six hundred QS Bullets currently.
- The amount was set to six hundred as of Patch 1.04.
- It's possible to gain "temporary" ammo by using the Blood Bullet technique.
- Remember that this comes with a health cost, which is 30% of your max health.
- However, it can be helpful for conserving ammunition.
Farming
- There are 3 areas considered good for farming Quicksilver Bullets in relative safety.
- The first, and most easily accessed area, is the warehouse in between the Great Bridge and the Sewer. There are two Riflemen inside the warehouse, and another two outside (right on top of the sewer).
- The second is the upper level of Oedon Chapel, which has 5 Wheelchair Mobs and two riflemen, all of which have a guaranteed Quicksilver Bullet drop (although it requires killing the Blood-starved Beast in order to access).
- The third, and most lucrative area is the woods in between the Hemwick Charnel Lane lamp and Cathedral Ward, with ten Riflemen in close proximity to each other (although three Stalkers will spawn in the area after your Insight level is 15+ or you have defeated Rom, making it somewhat more dangerous). Farming this area has an additional advantage; it's the only area where Riflemen have a small chance to drop Bone Marrow Ash.
- Finally, one can simply farm Blood Echoes and buy QS Bullets from the Messengers.
Trivia
- Quicksilver is another name for the real-life element "Mercury."
- The planet Mercury is considered to represent the mind.
- Long periods of exposure to the element Mercury can cause "mercury poisoning," which is linked to damage against a person's nervous system.
- In other words, it's possible for a person to go crazy if exposed to mercury for too long.
- Bloodborne has many references and insights of a sort regarding people going crazy and seeing things that others cannot, which ties QS Bullets heavily into the theme.
- Silver is referenced in the name Quicksilver, which is an element that is popular in folklore as being deadly to all things relating towards lycanthropy.
- A popular form of ammunition used to kill werewolves in various media are silver bullets.
- It should be noted that IRL silver is oftentimes used for religious items when showing reverence to great beings, as well as slaying evil, unholy creatures.
- The Choir Bell is a possible reference to this idea.
- Quicksilver Bullets themselves would therefore be considered sacred, and thus would be effective against the inhuman beast plague.

I’ve been doing some tests, and I think that left handed guns do less damage over range.
Another good place to farm quicksilver bullets is on the first floor of the lecture building. Run into the lecture theatre and aggro the slime scholars, then lure them all into the doorway and use a Tiny Tonitrus. You'll get plenty of Quicksilver bullets and lood echoes alongside the occasional sedative.

I can't help but feel like there's some sort of connection between quicksilver bullets (that we make from our blood) and the 'pale'blood we are told to seek.

A possible alternative etymology: I believe the answer is tied up in the name ''Quick-silver Bullets'' (note the hyphen, it is a deliberate addition). A careless reader assumes that hydrargyrum, mercury, is meant, but if one looks up the entry for the bullets we find that they contain the blood of the hunter. Now it is a common folk belief that evil things can only be killed by a silver bullet (cf. Bonnie Dundee, alias Bluidy Clavers -- a general during the Jacobite rising in 1689, said by the Covenanters to have sold his soul to the Devil and so could only fall by a silver bullet) and the graphics of the bullet seem to suggest that they are of silver. So far, so good, but why ''Quick''silver? I believe that the answer lies in the archaic meaning of the word ''quick'', which is ''alive''. The Anglican Prayer Book alludes to ''the quick and the dead'' in the Creed. Old English ''cwic'' meant ''living'' first and foremost. Thus, as they are made, if you allow my contention, of silver mingled with the hunter's blood, they truly are made of quick or living silver, silver into which blood has been enfused. I would be interested to know the Japanese name and the reasons for the chosen translation.

I wonder, does quicksilver play a larger role in the game than just as a medium for bullets? I started thinking maybe quicksilver was also used somewhere in the process of making the weapons in the workshop, since blood gems are used to bolster their effects, just like the quicksilver bullets being infused with the user's blood. Not to mention Gehrman suffers from some sort of "mania," which is hinted at in the doll attire... Do you think that white-ish fluid she bleeds could be quicksilver?
Not to get too heavy, but what is the silver liquid that most of the Kin enemies bleed? Ebrietas also bleeds this fluid, but it's also mixed with red blood. Then there's Ludwig, who spits a torrent of shining silver liquid from his eye-mouthed parasitic growth thing, but this silvery stuff isn't seen anywhere else, except maybe in the silverbeasts. Not to mention, both of these attacks deal arcane damage. Could this also be quicksilver?
Maybe quicksilver is representative of the Hunt itself? All of the Oedon runes grant quicksilver bullets in some way, which would make sense if the theory that Oedon is the Moon Presence is true (and it probably is, since it's overtly hinted at in the art book). These runes also refer to quicksilver as a "mucous," which makes me think the Four Humours have some part to play in the design of the world. Phlegm is associated with water, and water is associated with the arcane/the mind in Bloodborne, so it would make sense that quicksilver would affect the Hunters' sanity. The most iconic image in the series, and the very symbol of the Hunters, is the Hanged Man of the Tarot, which suggests heightened blood flow to the brain, again accentuating the pattern of blood infused into quicksilver. I guess it could be surmised that Oedon/Moon Presence, being the "parent" of the Hunters, would seek to assist the Hunters by offering quicksilver bullets as a means for collecting the blood echoes?
...SHOOT, maybe that's what the headless statue in the Grand Cathedral represents? The title screen cinematic shows her "pouring" a silver liquid into Laurence's skull, if I remember correctly. Could she be an anthropomorphic depiction of Ebrietas? Or maybe she represents the nature of the Hunt itself? ("Our thirst for the blood satiates us"--which is to say, the blood does not quell our desires, but the violence of the Hunt itself.)
One last dumb speculation: many of the boss soundtracks reciprocate an unusual Latin phrase--"arguam vitae," or "silver water of life." The most significant use of this term is in Laurence, the First Vicar's soundtrack, where the vocalists sing "arguam vitae es non absolvis," or "the silver water of life does not absolve you." Looking closer at the lyrics, the song is apparently spoken in first-person, seemingly by the fleeting will of Laurence to the Hunter as a form of warning--"Sic, filli scite, tibi vi sacramentum, erit praemium sanguine sanctum" (Know, my child, that by the way of sacrifice, the blood is made sacred).

I was bewildered at first when I discovered that ammunition is composed of mercury and blood, I was used to the plain old sanctified palladium slugs that we used in the hunt back at London, but after raising my bloodtinge the QS bullets turned out to be sufficiently effective.
Did some more cleanup, as well as beef up the trivia. It's pretty obvious though that these bullets are the equivalent of silver bullets, which are popular in media regarding werewolf hunting.
Only "QS bullets, infused with the wielder's blood" are effective against beasts. QS bullets dropped by enemies work, too. And so do blood bullets.
Also: bludgeoning, stabbing, slashing, arson, electrocution, gravity, poison, magic hexes, vengeful spirits, tentacular assault, and a f***ing wheel.
But, just to be clear, regular bullets do NOT work against beasts...
Which is why we ALSO don't use them on humans, snakes, human-snakes, dogs, crows, crow-dogs, dog-crows, rats, giants, giant pigs, pthumerians, ghosts, gargoyles, vampires, yetis, witches, winter lanterns, the undead, transdimensional entities from the outer cosmos, mutated abominations of science, or spiders (not even the vacuous ones).
