Illusory Walls are secret passages revealing hidden chests, treasures and items in Bloodborne. While some secrets in the main game are concealed by breakable objects (such as the hidden path through a window leading to the Ebrietas boss fight), illusory walls are only found in Chalice dungeons.
Illusory Wall Information
- An illusory wall is revealed by hitting the wall with an attack or rolling into it.
- Illusory walls will only appear where a door could exist based on the structure of a room, so it is not necessary to examine every wall. A normal wall panel for a given room would be replaced with an archway over either a plain brick wall with no tree/root growth or a wall with a door shaped stone slab. For example, in the rooms that have skulls all over the walls, one of those skull panels would be completely swapped out with an illusory wall panel.
- Illusory walls do not make any sound, however they often lead to a balcony located above the pre/post-area of a layer. In these cases, the nearby lamp can be heard through the wall. Looking up when initially going through these transition areas is a good way to know where to expect illusory walls.
- Illusory walls apear randomly in Root Chalice dungeons, however four are known to exist in the Lower Pthumeru Chalice dungeon, one on each of the four layers. The wall on the final layer leads to a Bath Messanger who sells the Sinister Lower Pthumeru Root Chalice along with regular supplies.

I found an illusory wall in the fetid central pthumerian labyrinth. Glypth is vij3ee8y. Wall is in 3rd layer, going straight from lamp to wall, it's at a t intersection. Items found are tomb mold (2), and ritual blood (2).

The Kidnappers, when they use their AOE pull attack can actually trigger illusionary walls dispelling them.

Can anyone confirm the existence of such walls? Screenshots? Videos? I slash walls like crazy, but can't find any. Are there any signs or hints which walls to hit and which not?

I have only just started searching for these walls, but thus far, I have realized that the archways that have no roots / tree parts covering them tend to be illusionary. Perhaps this is how you're meant to identify them?

I just find that there will be a loud wind blow near the area of the hidden wall. Maybe this is one of the hints to reconize these walls. Good luck all

Does the crown of illusions do anything to illusory walls? It seemed to dispell some illusion at cainhurst castle. I think it should

are these walls only in certain types of dungeons? atm im doin ailing loran dungeons and i did every type to this point and i found only a handfull of them...

I found quite a few in the Itz Chalice dungeons. The walls seem pretty obvious to me as they are outlines with a different direction of brick, so it actually looks like a door. Attack once and they will disappear. 100% of the ones I found led to a chest containing materials over looking either the begging or ending hallways of that layer.

Found a hidden door right straight ahead on lower pthumeru level 3 from the second lamp. 2 sage's wrists, ritual blood (4) and quicksilver bullets

Wearing the crown does not reveal these walls, you must strike them to dispell, noticed candles oddly going into the walls and some light around the edge.

My secret walls I've found in lower pthumeru have all appeared the same, with a weird band in the middle. I say weird as in it does match surrounding walls. Confirm?

There are 2 messengers chilling with their unlit lanterns in front of this blocked archway, which tells me that SOMETHING is up with this wall. The are is in the 2nd story of the 1st layer, above 2 stone coffins/sarcophagi/memorials with crosses on them. I've tried busting down the wall and rolling through it to no avail. Is this even a doorway?
So apparently the rooms behind illusory walls can contain nothing. Found a treasure room door behind an illusion, but there were no sarcophagus or smaller chests in their usual places inside. Smashed everything in there searching for my reward.

I was walking around in Isz and hitting the areas that looked like obvious illusory walls, and one of them actually opened to a hallway leading to an overhanging balcony type thing similar to the one the messengers in lower pthumeru are on, which had a chest with some ritual blood 5 in it. Seems like there are more out there, just people may not have found them yet. I have the video saved as well.
